This bedroom transformation was all about making better use of the space while creating a calmer, more contemporary feel.
The room originally featured two substantial freestanding wardrobes which, although offering plenty of storage, didn’t properly fit the proportions of the room. Rather than replacing perfectly good furniture, we took a more considered approach: repurposing and integrating the existing wardrobes to create the appearance and functionality of bespoke fitted storage.
The wardrobes were repositioned and incorporated into the room, making far better use of the available wall space while retaining generous storage. The result feels intentional and built-in, rather than like furniture that has simply been placed within the room.
For the colour scheme, we selected Sage Green, one of the year’s standout interior colours. Its soft, natural tone works beautifully alongside the warmth of the existing timber wardrobes and crisp white architectural detailing. It gives the bedroom a relaxed, sophisticated character without making the space feel dark or enclosed.
Attention was also given to the details that can make a significant difference to the finished room. Previously visible trailing cables from the wall-mounted television were embedded and concealed, creating a much cleaner finish. Electrical points were incorporated within the cupboards, allowing devices to be powered and charged discreetly without introducing additional visible cables around the bedroom.
Storage remained a key priority throughout the project. By working with the existing wardrobes rather than simply removing them, we were able to retain plenty of practical storage while giving the room the streamlined appearance of a professionally designed fitted scheme.
The finished bedroom combines traditional architectural features, natural timber and contemporary Sage Green, with integrated storage and carefully concealed electrics bringing everything together. It is a great example of how thoughtful interior design can repurpose what is already there, reduce unnecessary replacement costs and create a room that looks completely transformed.
